Producer Tsuya was inspired by Swiss doctor Marcel Junod. Ever since marrying and coming to Hiroshima in 1982,
Tsuya had repeatedly heard about “Hiroshima’s benefactor”.
She read Juno’s diary, Warrior without Weapons. As a field delegate of the International Committee of the Red Cross,
he delivered 15 tons of medical supplies to Hiroshima after the A-bombing. His love of humanity transcended race, nationality and religion.
“It resonated with me very strongly. Junod’s life was not the story of some lofty, great man. I could look at it as my own life,” she said.
“People of all ages should be able to lead a happy life by learning about his life.”
