Director of Animaze (The Montreal International Animation Film Festival)
Laurie was born and raised in Montreal Canada and her family from Budapest Hungary.
Laurie is a media entrepreneur and loves new technology. A film festival circuit professional she is a regular speaker at industry conferences, panels.
Laurie graduated from Concordia University in music and film and is an accomplished vocalist and composer and recorded and performed solo and with her band Chiwawa and many musical collaborations. She also records film soundtracks.
Musivision Films Laurie company produced Spare Change with animator Oscar nominee Ryan Larkin, subject of the Oscar winner Ryan and produced Oscar winner Co Hoedeman. She is now directing a documentary with 3x Oscar nominee Heavy Metal (1981) director Gerald Potterton.
Martin Petrov Bio
Graduate of the school of Film & TV studies of Glasgow University in Scotland, Martin has been actively involved in the film industry for the past five years. After making a start in the press and PR team of the Thessaloniki International Film Festival in Greece, he programmed for the Glasgow Youth FF and worked on several projects before establishing WoFF: World of Film International Festival Glasgow where he serves as Festival Director for the past three years.
Martin became Festival Coordinator of Animaze: Montreal International Animation Film Festival in early 2015, while he also shares his time between festival travels, content producing for www.filmfestivals.com and organizing journalism workshops with NISI MASA: The European Network of Young cinema.
Passions include travelling to warm places, cooking for friends and listening to their inspiring stories. Aspiration: Make a film festival on the beach.
A former film distributor, he started in 1985 working for Sony and UGC FOX in France (Marketing Director and Managing Director). He has launched over 200 films and has worked closely with key creative talents, such as Claude Lelouch, Costa Gavras, Terry Gilliam, Stephen Frears, Kenneth Branagh, James Ivory, Francis Coppola, Steven Spielberg, Woody Allen, etc.
He is the founder and Editor-in-Chief of filmfestivals.com, a newsletter and social networking site, which reaches over 192,000 film professionals.
He has been involved with Animaze since 2015, and has co-sponsored Animaze Daze and Animation Day in Cannes 2015-2016.
